We are mums of two neurodivergent boys, Vir and Mihaan, who are best buddies. Vir has Autism and Mihaan has Down Syndrome.

 

We wanted what every parent wants for their children: genuine friendships. 

 

Our boys were lucky to find each other and a group of young people who now make up their tribe, and we realize how very valuable and game changing this was for them. We’d love for other kids like them to have the same. 

 

However:

• Finding friends for persons with disabilities (PWD) can be challenging. 

• They often don’t have the same kinds of social opportunities

• Making friends doesn’t happen as organically as it does for neurotypical individuals

• Loneliness and isolation are common in this population. 

 

And so we decided to create Buddy Up, an app for persons with disabilities to find friends

But wait! There’s more. While  Mihaan and Vir became friends, so did we. Over time, we have become each others’ support systems and sounding boards. Given our own experience, we realized the power of caregiver friendships, and so Buddy Up allows caregivers to find friends as well!
